The Eager Pup Studio is located in the Shoppes of Northwood, set back from NW 34th Street, behind Pizza Hut and Pinch-A-Penny. It is 0.75 of a mile north of SR 222/NW 39th Ave, and .4 of a mile south of Millhopper Road/NW 53rd Ave/SR 232. There is limited handicapped parking and a small ramp up the one step to the test area entry door. The parking lot is flat as is the walkway to the entry door. The Test Area floor will be flat cement. The walk to the test area entry door from parking is short. Exit from the test area will be out the back door and around to the front of the building. It is a moderate walk on flat asphalt back to the parking area. Most of the grassy area is flat while one grassy area has a short, slope. Parking will be in the asphalt lot as well as on the grass. There are mature trees providing high shade for some parking. Please bring SilverShade/Aluminet and all other means to keep your dog safe and comfortable! Due to unforeseen conditions, such as weather or change in availability of areas at the location, the expected test area, parking, and/or pathways may be modified at the last minute.



Entry Method

First received via electronic entry and USPS Mail. Overnight deliveries must have the signature waived box checked.


Entries close August 1, 2019 at Noon EST or when entry limits have been met.


Entries are LIMITED to 100 tests.


Test Site Hours: 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Details regarding check-in time and briefing will be sent approximately 1 week before the ORT.

Test Site Information

Dogs will be confined in the car or crated beside the car.

There is grass upon which to walk the dogs.

All dogs must be on a 6’ leash at all times when not being tested. No retractable leashes for walking dogs on test site grounds; A retractable leash may be used during the test itself.


Entry Requirements

The handler of the dog must be a current (2019-2020) member of the NACSW™. The Dog must be registered with the NACSW™. For information on how to register or become a member go to




Trial Eligibility and ORTs

An ORT must be taken and passed at least 14 days before a trial opening date to be eligible for the first draw period for the trial.


Entry Fee and Second Dog Policy

Entry fee is $35 per odor. There is one set-up of each odor (Birch, Anise, Clove). Second dogs may not run the same odor(s) as the first dog. They may test on a different odor(s), however.


Closing Date

August 1, 2019, Noon EST.

Overnight mail entries must have the signature request waived.


Refund Policy

For cancellation of entries on or before 6 pm Eastern time, July 31st, 2019 – Full refund. For cancellation of entries after 6 pm July 31st, 2019 – no refunds will be issued unless the space can be filled, in which case a refund will be issued minus a $5 processing fee. Refund requests must be made via email to Eager.Pup@hotmail.com

ENTRY FEES shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, or excused by the NACSW™ official or judge.


Video/Photography Policy

ORT participants are allowed to have a friend or family member video/photograph their test. ORT participants are not allowed to video/photograph one another.

ORT hosts are not obligated to provide someone to video/photograph.

During the odor test re-sets, the official results sheet will be brought out to the parking area for testers to photo or review. We recommend you verify your results on the official results sheet and let your host or judge know if you have any questions regarding your results.

THE TEST SITE will be open from 7:30am - 4 pm.

NO SPECTATORS ARE PERMITTED IN THE SEARCH AREA during the ORT except NACSW™ officials, adults accompanying a minor, CNWI-in-training, or immediate family members/friends of the dog/handler team currently being tested.




  • RETURNED CHECKS do not constitute a valid entry fee. Payor/Registrant will be responsible for covering the amount of the original check and all associated banking fees.

  • ENTRIES MUST BE MADE ON THE ATTACHED MAIL-IN ENTRY FORM, OR VIA ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION OF THE ENTRY FORM AT EagerPup.com Note that email entries will be forwarded a payment link immediately upon receipt of the entry form. Mail-in entries must include an email address or a self-addressed, stamped envelope in order to receive confirmation of entry.


  • OWNERS are responsible for errors in making out entry forms.

  • EXPRESS MAIL entries must include signature permitting them to be left at the secretary’s address without recipient’s signature.



DOGS PRESENT will not be permitted to roam. Exhibitors are responsible for the behavior of their dogs. The owner of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready when it is to be judged. Be prepared to keep your dog in your car or crated beside your car when not being tested. Dogs may be walked on a 6 foot leash only. There is no inside crating at this test. Dogs may be tested on any length leash.


FEMALES IN SEASON – Contact your test host at least 1 day before the ORT if this becomes a possibility


DOGS PARTICIPATING in ORT must be at least six months of age and must appear to be healthy on trial day and should be current on all vaccinations required by law.


Acknowledgement of entry acceptance/CONFIRMATION will be made when entries are processed for those handlers who provide an email address. If you require a confirmation via USPS, you must provide a self-addressed stamped envelope with your entry. NOTE that entries received via USPS from June 23-July 8, 2019 will have a delayed acknowledgement of entry/acceptance/confirmation.


BASIC DESCRIPTION OF TEST – to successfully pass an ORT a dog must identify the location of the target odor and the handler must correctly call an “alert” within a three-minute time period. The Odor Recognition Test consists of a drill type exercise which requires 12 closed boxes set up in a pattern of one or two rows, spaced a minimum of 48” apart. The ORT is conducted on leash.
